Hunters Quay: A Journey

The Love We All Share.
Nature had a great influence on our town this Christmas.
During the Christmas period, heavy snow appeared throughout Dunoon and the surrounding villages. Looking at these pictures it would appear that Christmas trees had sprouted in every street of our town this year!

Amongst the short days and long, dark nights Scotland can indeed be a winter wonderland.

The beautiful grandeur of delicate snowdrops, the sky is blue and cloud free, following a prolonged period of hard frost and snow. Next week however, the forecast is probably for rain and gales. Only Christmas comes once a year.

The look of trees and our own streets is altered considerably with the sparkle of snow.

Suddenly the bleakness of winter is converted into something magical, something we want to be part of.

In amongst the dreich and the cold can be some beautiful days, and if you add to this a covering of snow or a thick hoar frost then the scene can be transformed into something quite spectacular.

Trees are an interesting example. They stand black and bare, the intricate pattern of their branches stark against the winter sky.

What a beautiful scene under a pristine blue sky.

Hard frost, making extra ordinary patterns.

Snow makes wonderful Christmas trees.

The snow can take an already beautiful scene and transform it into something magical while a fairly mundane setting takes on an altogether different appearance that might make you stop and make notice.

Our streets were extraordinary this Christmas; everywhere you look there is a photographic opportunity. Snow and photography are just made for each other.
